There's a common thread running through my life, originating in my childhood: an inexplicable passion for horses and riding has shaped my life story. I was eight or nine years old when my parents found a note on the kitchen table one Sunday morning: "Dear Mom, dear Dad, I rode my bike to the stables." Ever since the friendly owner of a rural riding school had swung me onto a handsome dappled grey horse, there have been no limits to my enthusiasm for these elegant, spirited animals.
It wasn't so much about sporting ambitions; rather, I was looking for a fairly treated partner and a reliable friend.
A first historical saga, published in 2019 in France, my adopted home, emerged from this period: The "CELESTE" series is based on real experiences riding sidesaddle as well as extensive research about a female fighter who is not entirely unknown in the region.
Céleste de Bulkeley.
My books are dedicated to women who have been "forgotten" or, in my opinion, underrepresented in history books. Often, their fates were fatally influenced by momentous historical upheavals. One or two of them also appear in my poetry collection "Horses and Other Poems."
As a freelance translator, I make it my mission to build bridges and create connections between my Swabian homeland and the French Atlantic coast, where I set up camp almost twenty years ago.
